Before the assessment
Choose the correct child profile and current grade. Find a calm place, and keep paper and a pencil nearby.
The assessment is the beginning of a useful conversation. Help your child feel calm, independent and curious, then turn the report into small steps that suit their learning.

Support the learner without turning the experience into a test of speed or perfection.
Choose the correct child profile and current grade. Find a calm place, and keep paper and a pencil nearby.
Read a prompt aloud if that helps, while allowing your child to choose and explain their own response. Pause whenever they need a break.
Read the evaluation together in age-appropriate language. Notice interests, clear reasoning and approaches that help them engage.
Use the sampled foundational and current-grade evidence to select one or two practical goals with their teacher or tutor.
Use short activities in more than one format. Look for clearer explanations and gradually more independent work.
After a few weeks, review fresh work with their teacher or tutor and adjust the learning goals using the new evidence.
The report describes the skills sampled and your child’s own reflections. Discuss it alongside schoolwork and observations from their teacher. Revisit the plan as new learning becomes visible.
